  • Tips
  • Always record measurements in the following order – Width x Height.
  • Check the casing depth – this can influence product choice.
  • For vertical blinds installed as an outside mount, you should add approx. 6 or more inches to the width and 2 inches to the height.
  • For other products installed as an outside mount, you should add 2” to the width and the height of the bracket plus 1” to the height.

Inside

This means that the blinds are hung inside the window casing and you will see the moulding or trim that surrounds the windows after the blinds are installed.

Inside Mount

Measure three times across the inside width of the window, top, middle and bottom. Take the smallest of the three measurements to the nearest 1/8th of an inch.

Measure the height three times across the inside of the window and take the longest of the three to the 1/8th of an inch.

Outside

The blinds are hung on or above the window moulding or directly on the ceiling or wall. Ensure that you consider enough width to minimize light leaks and optimize privacy.

Inside Mount

Measure three times across the width on the outside of the window frame and take the largest of the three to the nearest 1/8” of an inch.

Measure the height three times across on the outside of the window and take the longest of the three to the nearest 1/8th of an inch.
